Speaker's biography
Richard Hotinski served in
the United States Air Force for 23 years before retiring. Subsequently, he earned his Series 7
Securities License, worked another 10 years for the State of Texas, and after that
worked as an auditor at Texas Women's University. During that time, his mother became terminally ill and Richard
assumed full care for her, including tracking and managing her Medicare
statements.
As a result of his audit
experience he became aware of irregularities in those statements prompting him
to take interest when he read an article in the Washington Post about the increased incidence of Medicare
fraud. The author advised the readers
to contact their local Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)…he did, then trained at The
Senior Source through the RSVP program to become a SMP volunteer. Richard has made many SMP presentations to
Medicare beneficiary groups but his major work has been in volunteering with
The Senior Source's Guardianship Program.
Richard's dedication has
earned him the honor of receiving a national award as one of 10 outstanding
Senior Medicare Patrol volunteers. He
was presented the award in Washington D.C. on August 10th.
All AGA Dallas meetings and training
events are catered to the beginner to intermediate skill level; no advance
preparation or prerequisites are needed.
