President's message:
As we begin another Fiscal Year I would like to thank you for your
efforts to serve the interests of the citizens in your communities, state, and
nation. If you are reading this text
you are either already a member of AGA's Dallas chapter, interested in becoming
a member, or interested in our efforts to improve government accountability at
all levels. The last few years have seen remarkable accomplishments by AGA's
Dallas chapter, resulting in our ranking among the top AGA chapters in the
country.
If you are interested in
becoming a member, or are a member that needs a reminder yourself, please take
a look at the benefits of membership page for more details on our Professional
Development Conference, Monthly Luncheons, Continuing Professional Education
(CPE) credits, and community service efforts.
As we move into the New
Year I have three goals for our chapter:
1. Reward members by:
- Providing inexpensive CPE credits in an elegant environment
- Offering networking opportunities
- Supporting community service activities
- Presenting an exciting and engaging Professional Development
Conference.
Doing these things will
not only assure continued member satisfaction, but will also support membership
growth. In addition, we will:
- Continue the tradition of rewarding recruiting efforts by giving
$25 to members for each new individual recruited to join our chapter.
- Provide three monthly luncheons free for members, and if a member
purchases two lunches will receive one for free. So to be clear- if a
member attends all six monthly luncheons throughout the year they will
only be required to pay for two of them. Four will be absolutely free!!!!
2. Promote a higher degree of accountability and
transparency in government financial reporting by championing the use of
citizen-centric reporting by government entities and organizations. This
approach to reporting helps ordinary citizens understand what they are getting
for their tax dollars and more accurately depicts the contributions of particular
government entities to their quality of life.
3. Support other AGA chapters in our region and in the
country. Recent Efforts have focused on re-vitalizing other chapters here in
Texas, and a number of chapters throughout the United States may benefit from
the enthusiasm and experience of AGA Dallas members.
I know that if you are
interested in improving government accountability you have a heart of service.
Collectively we can have a greater impact on improving the lives of others in
our efforts to serve in a professional and a personal capacity. I am honored to
be given the opportunity to serve as the Dallas chapter president, and I look
forward to seeing how we can make a difference this year, and in the future.
Please send me any comments regarding Chapter services that have been of
benefit or need to be improved. Also,
please don't hesitate to contact me with any ideas or questions.
Sincerely,
John E. Trubey
President- AGA Dallas
